Safety Guidance

Last updated: 27 July 2026

Use personal judgment, keep important communication on the platform and report suspicious activity. Verification and ratings reduce some uncertainty but do not guarantee safety or performance.

1. Marketplace safety

  • Inspect items, confirm condition and ownership before paying where possible.
  • Meet in a safe public place, tell a trusted person and avoid carrying excessive cash.
  • Avoid advance payments to unknown users and unrealistic prices.
  • Never share passwords, OTPs, PINs or card details.
  • Report suspicious listings, users or messages.

2. Task safety

  • Agree clearly on scope, timing and payment before starting.
  • Reject dangerous, illegal, sexual, fraudulent or inappropriate tasks.
  • Do not publish exact room numbers; meet publicly where appropriate.
  • Stop and report unexpected unsafe changes.
  • Live location is not currently available. If introduced, sharing will require explicit permission, be temporary, be stoppable and limited to authorized task participants.

3. Account safety

  • Use a unique password and never share password-reset links.
  • Log out on shared devices and report suspected compromise.
  • Do not impersonate others or unnecessarily share private student or financial information.

4. Emergency warning

EKSU Marketplace is not an emergency service. If you believe you are in immediate danger, leave the location and contact local emergency services, campus security or a trusted person.
